I've never been to therapy before, what should I expect?
While every session is a little different, your first session should feel like a great chat with someone who ‘gets’ you. I want to get to know you before I get to know what isn’t working. So we’ll talk about what makes you laugh, how you enjoy your time, and what you're doing when you feel well.
Then, we’ll talk about what inspired you to seek out therapy and start to discuss what you need to move forward.
You’ll know a therapist is a good fit when you feel safe and comfortable sharing with them about issues that may be difficult.
How do you accept payment?
Payment for your session is due at the start of each session. I accept all major credit cards.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
I kindly request 48-hour notice if you need to cancel your session. You may also ‘reschedule’ or ‘cancel’ the appointment via voicemail at 503.852.1161 or email if it is at least 48 hours in advance. If you are not able to give 48 hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee for the reserved time and a phone call is still appreciated. If you do not show for a session and fail to give notice, you will be charged the full session fee for the reserved time and will need to call to reschedule. I will extend the same courtesy via one free session if I miss a scheduled appointment.
What is a Good Faith Estimate and the No Surprises Act?
In January 2022, the federal law regulating client care was updated to include the No Surprises Act. This was designed to protect consumers from receiving unexpected medical bills. You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.
There may be additional items or services I may recommend as part of your care that must be scheduled or requested separately and are not reflected in this good faith estimate. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.
